Waivering Stand on Infidelity

Don't look now but some people have apparently found a way to preserve a marriage by allowing affairs on the side. Say what again? Yes, you read it right, the proposal is to have a consensual decision to allow a couple to each engage in extra-marital relationships outside their established relationship to have a happy and lasting marriage.

In theory, this kind of arrangement is expected to solve the problem of boredom or the need for variety that may arise in a marriage. Rather than encourage couples to take time to discover new things about each other, the proposition says to try new things with others. Rather than encourage couples to grow together, the proposition says to learn new pleasures from others. Rather than say we're in this together, couples say we can play around and agree to stay together.

Those who say that infidelity cannot be prevented because of man's natural instinct to procreate are actually saying that humans are no better than animals. Man's claim to superiority will not stand any ground if the moral aspect of human actions are eliminated. We do not get scandalized when animals change partners or have multiple partners but we do expect a lot more from humans.

For anyone to think that natural emotions like jealousy and insecurity will cease to exist just because infidelity is expressly allowed in a relationship is pure idealism devoid of any remnant of truth. Those who preach the advantage of being allowed their flings may not be as magnanimous when their belief is applied on them. Talk about having a taste of one's own medicine.

Men are consistently making developments in technology and do not waiver in their singular purpose of bringing progress. Human stand on infidelity tends to waiver depending on convenience and who gets affected. Along the way, we invent variations to make transgressions acceptable and this is where human folly is at is clearest.
