Number of Male Infidelity=Number of Female Infidelity
If the above equation is right, then the age-old belief that men are more prone to cheating than women is no longer true. Infidelity statistics support this equation while some even go as far as saying that the number of infidelity cases initiated by women is now actually more than cases perpetrated by men. Women have certainly gone a long way from the being the perennial victims in marital cheating although this can hardly be called a positive development in society.
Access to financial resources and unregulated time provided by careers has given women the opportunity to indulge in extramarital affairs of their own. Interaction with members of the opposite sex provides opportunities. Opportunities represent temptation which many may not be strong enough to avoid.
Everyone is all out for equality but I sincerely doubt the wisdom in this one. Anything that serves to undermine a serious, committed relationship is not to be encouraged regardless of the gender. There are those who believe however that the high percentage of female infidelity is not a new phenomenon but has always been with us except that they do not get publicized as much as male infidelity.
This is probably because of the misplaced pride of men in having mistresses and shame in being cuckolded by their wives. There is a greater tendency for men to brag about their female conquests and to hide the fact of being cheated on. The permissiveness of today's society has led to candid admissions of cheating in both genders, with many treating it as a regular phase in married life.
